Meet Dr. Mark Armstrong

Caring and Compassionate

Dr. Armstrong is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, in Cleveland, Ohio. After receiving his degree in 1989, he returned to his hometown of Troy, Ohio to practice.

Dr. Armstrong is licensed by the Ohio State Dental Board and is a member of the American Association of Implant Dentistry, International Dental Implant Association, the American Academy of Forensic Science, the American Society of Forensic Odontology, the American Association of Dental Boards, American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, Western Ohio Dental Society, Dayton Dental Society, and the Dayton Dental Society Mass Disaster Response Team.


He is an examiner for the CDCA-WREB-CITA (the national testing board for dentistry), and also serves on the board of directors as its chair. Dr. Armstrong was appointed to the Ohio State Dental Board by Governor Taft in 2004, and served as its president in 2009. He is a forensic odontologist for the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, and is a past member of the National Disaster Medical System with DMORT, Region 5. He is a delegate in the Ohio Dental Association and has worked on numerous committees and task forces within the Association. 

Dr. Armstrong was selected by the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to assist in victim identification in the 9-11 World Trade Center attacks within the first days of the disaster, and helped establish the protocols for managing victim identification with dental records on such a vast scale.

He was inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy (the international dental honor organization that recognizes leaders and future leaders in the dental profession), and also inducted into the International College of Dentists (an international honorary society that recognizes outstanding professional achievement, service, and dedication to the progress of dentistry), both in 2004.

In 2005, Dr. Armstrong travelled to Louisiana to provide emergency care for displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina. He and another colleague drove a mobile dental unit to Louisiana and provided emergency dental services at hurricane shelters in Gonzales and Baton Rouge.

In 2006, the Ohio Dental Association awarded Dr. Armstrong the Marvin Fisk Humanitarian Award. The award is presented to dentists who are working to improve the oral health of people in need, of all ages and from all walks of life. The award winners give of their time and energy overseas or closer to home, spending hours and personal resources to help fight illnesses.

Dr. Armstrong and his wife Cameron reside in Troy, and have four children.
